Proper surface preparation is critical to the success of any epoxy, urethane cement, polyaspartic, or sealer system because it creates the ICRI concrete surface profile required for long term adhesion and performance.
CMS uses shot blasting, diamond grinding, and scarifying to remove coatings, mastics, and contaminants while opening the slab to the specified CSP so primers and body coats bond as designed. Edges, columns, drains, joints, and penetrations are detailed with hand tooling so the profile is continuous and weak bond lines are avoided. We also perform joint and crack repair, spall patching, and self leveling underlayment to deliver a flat, durable substrate within tolerance.
Before work begins, we evaluate slab condition with moisture and pH testing, including in situ RH per ASTM F2170 and, when applicable, MVER per ASTM F1869. If elevated readings are present, our team can install epoxy moisture mitigation or vapor barrier systems and select compatible repair materials to protect the new floor.
Dust control and safety are integral to our process. CMS operates integrated shrouds and HEPA filtered vacuums to limit airborne silica and comply with OSHA Table 1. We plan containment, ventilation, and phased access routes to keep adjacent areas operational and to minimize disruption to your facility.
Production is sequenced so areas can reopen quickly. Many projects allow light foot traffic the same day once prep and primer are complete, with full return to service after the specified cure of the new floor system. We document CSP verification, adhesion testing when specified, moisture readings, and product batch numbers, and we provide clear closeout information for architects, general contractors, and owners.
