The most important process when installing a new epoxy floor is proper surface preparation. CMS shot blasted the floor which is a process that cleans and opens the pores of the concrete. Shot blasting also changes the surface profile of the concrete and ensures that the new epoxy floor will bond to the concrete.
Patch any cracks, joints, or pitted areas with an epoxy mortar. After the epoxy has cured, all patches are ground smooth.
Application of a penetrating epoxy primer for a mechanical bond to the concrete.
Apply the broadcast coat where epoxy is applied to the floor with squeeges and rollers and allowed to self-level. Once the epoxy has leveled it is broadcast or covered with sand until there are no wet spots remaining on the floor.
All excess sand is swept off the floor and a final coat of epoxy is applied to the floor. This final coat is a pigmented epoxy which gives the floor an even appearance.
