Creative Maintenance Solutions recently installed a polished concrete at a research and development facility in Brookfield, WI. This facility was once used for heavy manufacturing; the existing floor coverings were epoxy floors covered with VCT flooring. Once the existing floors were removed the concrete required some patching due to pitted areas. The customer contacted CMS as they wanted to match their existing polished concrete hallways in other parts of their facility. Our solution was to install a new polished concrete floor system with large exposed aggregate to set their space apart and protect it for years to come.

STEP 1

Set up property protection and remove the existing VCT floors and mastic.

Remove the existing epoxy floors hidden beneath the VCT floors and mastic.

Begin the diamond grinding process to exposed large aggregate and smooth the surface.

Patch all joints and divots to create a smooth surface.

Continue the diamond grinding process up to 200 grit and densify the floor to harden the surface.

Begin the polishing process with resin discs up to an 800 grit finish.
